Dear OBS Community,
As the snow has reached the shores of Lake Zurich, we know that it is soon time to conclude 2017. As the end of the calendar year invites us all to engage with some reflection, we look back at some pertinent milestones that have shaped our Primary School to date.
Our ambitious goal of introducing both Lehrplan 21 alongside the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) has been well received by our students, who have shown more engagement and curiosity than ever before. Our teachers have enjoyed receiving new impulses that invite them to incorporate contemporary pedagogy, while keeping true to valuable traditions within education. As always, we encourage our parents to maintain an ongoing dialogue with their children about what we are learning and experiencing at school, as this not only supports what we do in the classroom but also lays the foundation for the trustworthy partnership that is needed between school and home.
A further highlight over the past semester was the introduction of iPads through our move to becoming a 1:1 iPad school. While the initial introductory stage prioritises induction and guided experimentation, we look forward to being able to use our new 'textbooks' as learning tools that will better allow us to differentiate, individualise and create learning experiences that will spark even more curiosity. In today's world of surplus information, it is not about finding information as much as it is about carefully selecting and critically analysing data. We are confident that our iPads will, alongside other benefits, help to equip our students with such vital skills.
As we progress into the new calendar year, we look forward to the second semester, which will with no doubt provide us with new experiences and discoveries in our journey of teaching and learning. No matter whether you will spend the festive season near of far, we wish everyone a relaxing and memorable time, cherishing precious moments with family.
